PLANNING YOUR PROJECT
The first step is to make an appointment. Typically, we meet at our Design Center for new construction projects. For a remodeling project, we can easily meet you at your home. To help you make the most of your time, here are some suggestions to prepare for the design consultation:
- Become familiar with the variety of wood species, styles and forms available by Auburn Ridge. This can be done at our Design Center or even by browsing our brochure.
- Be prepared to talk about your family habits, lifestyle, likes, dislikes, needs, and desires. Are you a baker who dreams of a marble countertop? Do you and your kids eat your meals on the run? Is the kitchen the center of the craft and homework zone? Do you want to display a coveted Roseville collection on your entertainment center? Are you wary of germs? Do you have two Golden Retrievers who frequently need bathing? Do you dislike brass hardware? Do you want a dream bathroom suite with a spa-like soaking tub? All this information will help facilitate the design process.
- Bring the most recent copy of your house plans as well as your wish lists or must haves for your new space.
- Use pictures from magazines or catalogs, photos from existing homes, and Internet resources to show products and styles that you like. There are quite a few online resources and books that help you find and define your personal style. Also, bring a list of accessories that you want included. All of this helps create a more complete vision of what you are striving for in your new space.
This phase is very important and helps make the process smoother and your appointment time more effective.
At the design stage our certified designer will come to your house to take measurements and will begin to put your dreams into reality for your custom kitchen. Then we'll make an appointment at the Design Center to present the proposed cabinetry plans and to review ideas and discuss any product selections and design changes that can be made to the proposed plans. This is also a good time to start shopping for your appliances, flooring selections and lighting ideas. All three of these areas are important to create a cohesive design flavored by contrast, depth and texture.
Some people need only one appointment and others may need several appointments to ensure all the details, product selections, and layouts have been thoroughly covered and to your perfection - this is a personal project. With your help and our expertise in design, cabinetry, and millwork, we will create your new fully functional and beautiful space.
We are now at the final design step. Your product selections and layouts will be verified at this time. Our project manager and cabinet and millwork specialist will do a final onsite field measurement, revise the drawings accordingly, and then create the final proposal. The cabinet and millwork specialist will then present the final drawings and proposal to you for your signature. Lead times will vary between all products and manufacturers based on size, availability, and custom items. In the meantime, Auburn Ridge will begin custom crafting your cabinets and millwork. Then we'll deliver all cabinetry and millwork directly to your home/jobsite. Our cabinet installer will then install your cabinetry.
